Spring Update

A Letter from our Interim Executive Director

Dear Friends,

Today is the day that Sonya decided to make the call to Turning Point. The call that would change her and her children's lives forever. Sonya and her two young sons fled their home in the middle of the night to escape yet another brutal assault. Turning Point was able to answer Sonya's call, give her and her sons a safe place to stay, and counseling on how to create healthy coping strategies to empower them to build new lives, free from violence.

Spring is a season of hope, rebirth, new beginnings, and starting over

This is exactly what Turning Point provides survivors of domestic violence - a chance to start over and begin a new life without harm or fear. We need your help to provide essential services to women and children trapped in cruel and abusive relationships.

1 out of every 3 women experience domestic violence in their lifetime

Sonya's story is real, although her name was changed to keep her safe. It is likely that most of us know someone like Sonya, who is afraid to tell her story, afraid to ask for help, afraid the abuse is somehow her fault, or worse, that she deserves it.

Last year we received 2,250 calls on our 24-hour crisis hotline

Turning Point has been the only safe haven for those affected by domestic violence in the McHenry County community for 43 years. Our no-cost victims services are offered in both English and Spanish. Our emergency shelter assists survivors and their children escaping immediate danger and offers a private, safe, home-like environment for up to three months.

Your support is crucial to providing life changing resources. Please join us in our mission to help survivors rebuild their lives by making a gift today. Hundreds of survivors in our community are depending on us.

Thank you for giving the gift of a fresh start.
