Mary Margaret is a dynamic, energetic, and resourceful professional with over 30 years of experience working in business. She has a knack for working collaboratively to develop team members, inspire leadership, and promote personal development. She challenges people to think about possibilities. Her mantra is “Fail forward, fast. Challenge the process but inspire the vision. Build a legacy by lifting those around you.”
Mary Margaret’s background includes significant public sector experience, working in state government, in non-profit organizations, and in local service organizations of McHenry County. Her previous roles include Managing Exemplar Tax and Accounting and leading the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce, growing it into the sixth largest chamber in the state. She taught business, marketing, and international business at McHenry County College. She has helped entrepreneurs start their businesses in her role as Director of the Illinois Small Business Development Center where she worked with hundreds of clients preparing for a business launch, funding acquisition, product development, or sale. She oversees the Ride United Last Mile delivery Program for the United Way of Greater McHenry County which closes the transportation gap between Food Pantries and the clients they serve.
In March of 2022, Mary Margaret partnered with Adam Ruiz to launch Madam’s Garden, LLC a hydroponic vertical farm in Ringwood that grows fresh, sustainable and pest-free microgreens and is produced locally and available year round.
She is active in the community serving on boards including Big Brothers Big Sisters and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of McHenry County.
She is a collaborator who excels in relationship building and interdisciplinary work group settings. She has a broad lens towards system analysis and has facilitated change management for innovative process solutions at other institutions.
She holds a Master of Business Administration from the College of William & Mary and a Bachelor of Arts from Old Dominion University.
Mary Margaret believes in servant leadership and has the skills to lead, inspire, and engage members of different viewpoints. Her philosophy involves building bridges across communities for engaged thought leadership. Mary Margaret is a veteran's daughter, a veteran's mother, and a veteran's wife. She is active in veteran-related causes and is the founder and facilitator of Voices of Veterans, a writing group open to veterans and their families.

Doctor of Social Work (DSW), LCSW, CDVP is the Director of Programs , where she oversees counseling, shelter, advocacy, and prevention initiatives. With more than 25 years of social work experience, she has dedicated much of her career to addressing trauma, domestic violence, and health inequities. Julie’s leadership has advanced evidence-based, trauma-informed services that center survivors’ needs.
Julie has been a member of the NASW National Mental Health Committee and has presented several times statewide and nationally on issues related to vicarious trauma, professional grief, and weight stigma. She also serves on the Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professionals board as a director and on the standards and C-paip committees. Her favorite things are spending time with her family and complaining about her dog Brayley.

Elissa has been with Turning Point since November 2019. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin–Superior and began her career in youth programming, working in schools, park districts, and non-profits, focusing on youth development and community-building initiatives within diverse communities.
Since joining Turning Point, Elissa has earned her certification as an Illinois Domestic Violence Professional, completed the 20 Hour Partner Abuse Intervention Training, and the 40 Hour Sexual Assault Training. In August 2021, she was promoted where she was tasked with building a brand-new department focused on prevention and community engagement. Since than Elissa has expanded the program into her current role where in addition to prevention, she also oversees training, events, fundraising and volunteers.
Elissa is a passionate public speaker and advocate, frequently raising awareness about domestic violence through community events, trainings, and educational programming. Her commitment to prevention is deeply rooted in a lifelong passion for empowering young people with the tools to build safe, respectful relationships. Outside of work Elissa loves to travel, spend time with family and treasure hunt at antique and thrift stores.

Allison Fischer MSW, MSCJ, LCSW, CDVP began her journey with Turning Point in September 2020 after earning her Master of Social Work and Master of Criminal Justice degrees. This year, she also achieved her Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential. One of her key accomplishments includes leading the transition and implementation of Vela, Turning Point’s new client data system.
Outside of work, you can often find Allison running—or training for her next event, with triathlons quickly becoming a new favorite. She’s also an avid coffee enthusiast who loves discovering new coffee spots wherever she travels


Clinical Services Manager
Chelsea Vlcek, MA, NCC, LPC is the Clinical Services Manager and Therapist for Turning Point with 11 years of experience providing mental health care to clients across the lifespan in private practice as well as public agency settings. Chelsea obtained her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and is a National Certified Counselor as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor in IL.
In her current role, Chelsea manages staff who are providing domestic violence advocacy for adults and children as well as other mental health therapists. Chelsea also leads a parenting group and helps with Men's Mental Health program management. She balances this with being mom to four young children and maintaining a household which also includes her husband and dog.

Kylie Schiller MHP, CDVP is the Shelter Coordinator at Turning Point and has been part of the team for six years in shelter .She is deeply passionate about supporting our shelter clients and upholding Turning Point’s mission of safety, healing, and empowerment. She approaches her work with empathy and a strong commitment to a client-centered approach, ensuring every individual feels heard, supported, and valued. Kylie brings a strong background in care-giving and medical assistance, where she developed a deep sense of compassion and care.
She is a proud mom of three boys, ages 18, 16, and 10, and has been happily with her husband for 14 years. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, and her favorite thing is the smell of a campfire.


Zitlalli Roman, LCSW, CDVP, CPAIP is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Domestic Violence Professional at Turning Point, Inc., where she has worked since 2016. She is also a Certified Partner Abuse Intervention Professional. Over the years, she has served in a variety of roles including PAIP facilitator, shelter advocate, and Victim Counseling Supervisor.
She currently oversees the Alternatives to Violence department, which houses several vital programs including PAIP, parenting support, alumni groups, men’s mental health services, and survivor intervention program. Zitlalli is passionate about breaking cycles of violence and supporting community healing through trauma-informed, culturally responsive services.
Outside of work, Zitlalli is an avid animal lover. She enjoys spending time with her pup, Xo, and her parakeet, Loui, and can often be found feeding the birds, squirrels, and bunnies that visit her yard. Her social media pages reflect her love for animals and are filled with funny, lighthearted animal reels that brighten her day.
