Every day, someone in our community experiences domestic violence. Every day, someone wonders if anyone will believe them. Every day, survivors reach out to Turning Point and take the step toward hope, support, and a brighter future.

While receiving support from friends and loved ones is invaluable, a pattern of abusive behaviors often requires the specialized care and understanding that Turning Point advocates can provide. We help parents find safe housing, survivors navigate the legal system, and teens recognize the warning signs of unhealthy relationships. Last year alone, nearly 2,000 survivors turned to us for support and our helpline answered more than 2,500 calls.

It begins in our community.

For the past 45 years, Turning Point has worked to expand our community’s understanding of domestic violence. What began with a small group of concerned women in 1979 has grown into a comprehensive domestic violence agency rooted in the same mission. Our grassroots efforts have focused on believing survivors, reducing stigma, and creating a safe space for people to land.

Today, we continue to run our core programs — our 24/7 helpline, emergency shelter, individual and group counseling, legal advocacy and alternative to violence programs. We have also expanded to add mental health counseling, men’s mental health programs, specialize art and writing groups, and provided a new holistic and trauma informed approach to the work we do.

Our Outreach and Prevention Program brings our mission out into the community, with a focus on educating youth on unhealthy and abusive relationships. With a variety of programming we ensures that we address domestic violence in every stage from crisis intervention to prevention.

This is why the stewardship of mission extends beyond our doors and into our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and faith communities.
